Admins and authorized Space members can manage the Assessments Grading and the Completion Threshold from the Space customization page. This allows them to:
- choose whether to display the Assessment scores in decimal or percentage form depending on the grading system
- customize the completion threshold, adjusting the minimum score required to pass Exercises and Tests according to the learning goals
Below, you can read in detail:
How to edit the Assessments Grading
From the Space customization page, click on Edit Info and then scroll down to the Assessments Grading section. From here:
- select Percentage (0 to 100%) to display the Assessment scores (Exercises and Tests) in percentage form:
In both cases, click on Save Changes in the top right corner to apply the changes to the Assessments.
Changes made to the Assessments Grading apply to:
- all Assessments created
- all Assessments published
- all Assessments taken by Learners
- all Assessments within Modules
How to edit the Completion Threshold
From the Space customization page, click on Edit Info and then scroll down to the Completion Threshold section.
From here, set the minimum threshold that Learners must achieve to pass an Exercise or a Test. To do so, click on the (+) sign to raise the minimum threshold or select the (-) sign to lower the minimum threshold
The way the minimum threshold is displayed depends on how you set the Assessments Grading.
If you set the Assessments Grading in decimal form, you can set the Completion Threshold by choosing values between 0 and 10 with a decimal progression of 1:
Setting 0 as the minimum threshold will cause Learners to automatically pass the Assessments created with this threshold.
The new minimum threshold you set:
- applies to all Assessments created after making this change. For example, if you raise the minimum threshold for Exercises or Tests from 6 to 7, from now on, all Assessments you created will follow these settings
- does not apply to previously created Assessments which will continue to have the minimum threshold set before the change. For example, if you raise the minimum threshold for Exercises or Tests from 6 to 7, the Assessments taken by Learners up to now will not be affected by this change
If you set the Assessments Grading in percentage form, you can set the Completion Threshold by choosing values between 0 and 100% with a decimal progression of 10%:
Setting 0 as the minimum threshold will cause Learners to automatically pass the Assessments created with this threshold.
The new minimum threshold you set:
- applies to all Assessments created after making this change. For example, if you raise the minimum threshold for Exercises or Tests from 60% to 70%, from now on, all Assessments you created will follow these settings
- does not apply to previously created Assessments which will continue to have the minimum threshold set before the change. For example, if you raise the minimum threshold for Exercises or Tests from 60% to 70%, the Assessments taken by Learners up to now will not be affected by this change
In both cases, click on Save Changes to apply the new minimum thresholds to the Assessments.
Editing the Completion Threshold can affect the completion of a course depending on when the change is made. Therefore, make sure to set a minimum threshold that matches the course objectives and the abilities of Learners to ensure a consistent learning path.
